6. Surreal Circus
I’ll augment more normative uses of digital means for working, looking into relations of image production that move into the world of digital modeling, and vice versa. This, through the production of a representation of a surreal circus, trading on the familiar ‘technique’, or tactic, sometimes used by some surrealists, and now beyond, ‘familiar strangeness’.
I created this surreal circus scene incorporating parts and fragments of found imagery to construct a whimsical and imaginative environment. The scene features various 'entourage-like' elements that populate and enhance the surreal circus atmosphere. These include elephants with elongated legs, reminiscent of Salvador Dalí’s iconic imagery, acrobats in dynamic poses, a glowing moon, and palm trees. Additionally, I introduced atmospheric elements such as a whimsical cloud and a surge of orange light.
Overall, the artwork is intended to be fun, flamboyant, and visually captivating, combining geometric and human-like forms to create a unique and engaging surreal circus scene.
I foreground lighting, shadows, and reflections in this work, utilizing various rendering software such as Rhino, Enscape, and V-Ray. These tools can be used individually or in combination to produce images. My aim is to create amazing effects by harnessing the capacities and potential of rendering software in the context of my surreal circuses.
